Visiting Vancouver Island

Make plans to visit Vancouver Island this fall and check out a wide range of excellent events, festivals, concerts, and more. From Tofino to Campbell River and down south to Victoria, Vancouver Island will yield the kind of fun-filled days you won’t soon forget.

When your fall visit to Vancouver Island has you exploring Victoria and the southern region, you’ll find an impressive array of things to see and try. From September 15th through 18th, Royal Athletic Park in Victoria hosts Rifflandia 2016. This annual music festival is one of the premier events of the year. Some of the artists scheduled to perform this year include Jurassic 5, Wolf Parade, and Prozzak.

The 6th Annual Tweed Ride Victoria is a fun-for-all-ages casual bicycle ride held on September 10th. The ride starts at the Legislative Grounds and weaves through downtown Victoria before finishing up at Beacon Hill Park for an afternoon picnic.

Make sure your visit to Tofino is planned for the weekend of September 17th and 18th, and head for the Cox Bay, host site of the 3rd Annual Bruhwiler Kids Surf Classic. Kids under the age of 18 can enter, surf, and win prizes. And if you don’t have any mini surfers in the group, it’s still a fun afternoon activity.

In October, the McPherson Playhouse in Victoria will host Ballet Rocks, presented by Ballet Victoria. From October 21st through 23rd, you’ll have a chance to witness one of the most impressive ballet performances of the season – The shows on the 21st and 22nd begin at 7:30 p.m., while the last show of the three-day run is on Sunday the 23rd and starts at 2 p.m.

If you love the ballet, but won’t be visiting Vancouver Island until November, you’re in luck! Plan for your stay in Victoria for November 12th when the Moscow Ballet stages a performance of the classic Nutcracker. The show is hosted at the Royal Theatre and starts at 7 p.m.

North of Victoria, and just west of Nanaimo, Port Alberni can be found. Here, on October 29th, head for Char’s Landing Public House at 8 p.m. for a night of excellent live music. The Parker Abbott Trio will be performing some of the hits from their most recent album, The Wayfinders.
