Visiting Central & Eastern British Columbia
Make the most of your next visit to eastern British Columbia. Plan your exploration of this region for the winter or early parts of spring 2017 and discover a wide range of excellent attractions, pleasant cities, welcoming locals, and an impressive list of events, festivals, and concerts. From Fernie and Cranbrook out to Williams Lake and Valemount – you’ll have a blast in eastern BC.
One of the premier destinations during the winter season in BC is the Radium Hot Springs Mineral Pools. These naturally heated pools can be found in the village of Radium Hot Springs, north of Cranbrook and just on the outskirts of Kootenay National Park. The nearby Forester Creek Area yields excellent sledding and skiing during the winter months, and be sure to check out a Back Roads Adventures with an exploration of the Kootenay Rockies.
You’ll find even more impressive and thrilling winter ski opportunities at the Crystal Ridge Ski Area in Valemount. Opening in December to the public, the Crystal Ridge Ski Area is free, and is also a sled-assisted ski hill. Don’t miss out this winter in eastern BC.
Your visit to central and eastern BC should certainly include a stay in Kamloops. Home of the BC Wildlife Park, Kamloops will easily yield full days of fun for the whole family. One of the premier events happening late this year in Kamloops takes place at the Sagebrush Theatre. From November 24th to December 6th, you’ll have a chance to catch a live production of the Broadway hit – and subsequent movie – Mamma Mia!
When your visit to Kamloops is slated for early 2017, you’ll be in for another theatrical treat. Visit the same Sagebrush Theatre any day between January 26th and February 4th for a chance to see The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare. Fans of the famous playwright are sure to know all about this epic comedy. The drive in from nearby Sicamous will be quick and scenic.
Plan your visit to eastern BC for the spring of 2017 and be sure to experience one of the most anticipated events of the year. Head for the Sagebrush Theatre between April 6th and 15th to see the play The Cure for Death by Lightning. Written for the stage by Daryl Cloran, and based on the novel by Gail Anderson-Dargatz, this World War II-era dram is a can’t-miss.
The Kelowna Actors Studio will be your premier destination in April of 2017. Visit Kelowna or West Kelowna in the spring and check out a live performance of Anne of Green Gables. From April 19th to 21st, you and the group will be able to watch the story of Anne Shirley live on stage. It was written by Lucy Maud Montgomery who was born in Clifton, PEI.
